-Welcome to the archives of Olds Koinonia Christian School Royals. OKCS began in 1982 in a church in Bergen / Carstairs before moving to it's current location just outside of Olds shortly after. With it the athletics program has grown from its humble beginnings of barely fielding teams in the mid 80's where Mr. Dwayne Brown then built the program from the ground up. From there the Royals have gone on to sustain what I feel is one of the top overall 1A/1J athletics program in the Province. We have not just competed well in a couple sports but rather compete year after year in XC, volleyball, basketball, badminton, track and now soccer. In volleyball and basketball we consistently field 5-8 teams in each sport consistently every year with our middle school and Jr. A teams looking up to our Sr. teams that help keep the rich tradition cycling each year. We have won one or more Zone banners in each of the above sports with the exception of badminton where we have recently built one of the strongest 1A/1J badminton pragrams in the Province that has included 4 players winning Provincial medals in the past two years competing against 1A-4A players. We thank the Lord for his blessings these 35 years and want to continue to honour Him as we compete. Some of our best highlights include:
-5 year run of Sr. boys volleyball Zone Champions from 1993 - 1997 (only ever
matched by Cluny and Acme)
-1996 Sr. Boys 1A Basketball Provincial Champions
-1996 Sr. Girls 1A Basketball Provincials Silver
-First Jr. A girls 1J basketball Zones banner in 19 years in 2013 that turned into 4
straight from 2013 - 2016
-2015 Gr. 10 Girls Category 1 Badminton Provincial Champions (Kayla & Jewel
Jansen)
-2016 Gr. 11 Mixed doubles Category 2 Provincials Bronze (Kennedy Coates &
Bryce Parrott)
-12 high school players have competed in Badminton Provincials in the past 3 years
-2008 South Central XC Running 1J Zone team Champions
-2016 South Central Zone Track & Field 1A Zone team Champions
-2016 South Central Zone 1A/2A Girls Soccer Zone Champions w/ Carstairs
-2017 Sr. Girls Basketball 1A Zones Champions and bronze in Provincials

-It's safe to say that Royals athletics has had its ups and downs over its 35+ year history but representing Christ's beatitudes, often winning our CESAA leagues, and winning any one of our 38 zone banners and 2 Provincial banners hanging in our gym represents how far we have come and how bright our future is.
