3432 Sick Leave

This policy provides twelve (12) days sick leave for employees working 190 to 220 days, thirteen (13) days for employees working 221 to 249 days, and fourteen (14) days for employees working 250 days per year, accruing to a maximum total of sixty (60) days for each employee. Employees whose number of work days are changed after the start of the fiscal year may receive additional or reduced sick leave at the discretion of the Agency.

Employees must work at least 125 days annually to receive sick leave. Employees working between 125 and 189 days will receive one (1) sick leave day per every twenty days worked (e.g. 140 work days divided by 20 = 7 Sick Leave Days). Sick leave is terminated at time of separation, resignation, and/or retirement.

When employees are absent due to illness they must report to their supervisor, or designated contact, indicating the anticipated length of absence. Scheduled appointments should be cancelled and all schools to be notified should be contacted. Illness of employee, illness of employee's children or spouse, and medical/dental appointments constitute reasonable uses of sick leave.
