Yes you read this correctly, Parkview makes their own Maple Syrup using the trees around the school. Thanks to a grant provided by the CEF (Cedarburg Education Foundation), our school was able to purchase the equipment necessary to harvest the sap from the tree, evaporate a majority of the sap, and can the final product. Students take part in tree identification, in learning plant processes, and in the collection, measuring, and production of syrup. Parkview is currently the only school to do this. Jars of the syrup go on sale at the final Artist in Residence event at the end of the year. All proceeds go to the Dads' Club for funding the maple sugaring events in the future.
