Robotics I

Students will have the opportunity to discover automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design and build a solution to a task. This course will be exciting and engaging.

Robotics II

Students will explore automation and robotics in a deeper level than Robotics I. Students here will focus on more in depth programming with if/else statements. Students will create the “ClawBot” robot and be given a specific task to accomplish. There will be a competition to complete the task in the least amount of time. This course is sure to make you think and have fun! *Robotics I is not required, but recommended*

Woodworking 101

This hands on lab based course gives students the opportunity to build two projects. Students will learn basic wood working skills. The two projects Participants will go home with are; “The Amazing Folding Stool” and “The Bandsaw Box”. Students will learn how to safety operate several pieces of woodworking equipment including the drill press, bandsaw, belt/disc sanders, air nailer, router and table saw. Students will learn to read a plan, create a template and create a project from that plan.

Building Outdoor Games

This hands on lab based course has students design and build one of two tailgate games; bag toss or ladder golf. Participants will have the opportunity to use the industry standard Autodesk Inventor 3D modeling software to create a virtual image of their project. Students will learn how to safety operate several pieces of woodworking equipment including the drill press, bandsaw, belt/disc sanders, cordless drill, router and table saw to create their outdoor tailgate games.
