Sobre mi

Hola! My name is Michelle Traub. I have been teaching in Canton Public Schools for the past 11 years. I spend a great deal of my time at CIS teaching 5th and 6th grade but I also teach at CHS. This year I will be teaching Spanish 2 and 2 Honors!

Educational Experience

I began my teaching career in my parent's basement instructing my younger siblings to do 'fun' math during their summer breaks and after school. After that, I went to DeSales University in Center Valley, PA and graduated with a BA in Elementary Education. I also attended Universidad de Granada in Granada, Spain and earned my BA in Spanish. I have earned my Master's in Business, Leadership, and Management with a focus on International Education from SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT. I have most recently completed my 092 in Educational Leadership at Sacred Heart University.

Cultural Experience

The majority of my Spanish knowledge comes from living, working, and traveling in Spanish speaking countries. I first moved to Spain when I was 17 and I have been back to visit my Spanish family almost every year since then. I have also lived extensively in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala and taught English in Quito, Ecuador. Other Spanish speaking countries I have spent time in include: Cuba, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Chile, and Mexico.

This past year I left CHS in May to work as the US Youth Ambassador to Argentina and Chile. During my time abroad, I worked in the US Embassy discussing critical issues facing the youth as well as working with the Department of Education in Argentina/US to promote cultural exchange.

Traveling is one of my favorite things. So far I have traveled to Spain, Guatemala, Ecuador, Germany, Czech Republic, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Guyana, Greece, Cuba, Colombia, Argentina, Russia, Romania, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, United Arab Emirates, and Aruba. This past summer I also was able to add Chile and Panama to the list!

Things I Love

I appreciate positive attitudes and hard work efforts. I am addicted to Spanish music. I battle a chronic illness which causes me to be out frequently when I am sick or have doctor's appointments. I also have to bring Guille to school with me on days I am not feeling good or switching medications. I check my school email (not my Instagram) all the time. The Colts are going to win the Superbowl.
