6th Grade Science - Top 10 List
"Top 10" Things to Know About 6th Grade Science
1. We will learn about concepts in four major areas - nature of science, earth, life science, and chemistry/physical science.
2. Textbooks will be used mainly as a reference-no books are "assigned" to students unless necessary.
3. The entire class period will be packed with discussion, question and answer time, activity time, independent work time, group work, and experiments (labs). I expect 100% effort from all my students each and everyday.
4. Students will be given study guides, flashcards, handouts, notes, etc. to study for tests. Your child will, of course, be responsible for keeping up with these items and utilizing them fully.
5. Grades will be taken on tests, daily class work, group work, labs, projects, journals, etc. I try to assess student progress at least twice a week.
6. Your child will be asked to write the homework at the beginning of each class in their assignment notebook. Parents do not need to sign the book each night, but if a student is struggling, a parent/teacher conference may be set-up and that suggestion offered.
7. I will update this web page regularly throughout the school year. Check back for frequent changes.
8. The only supplies needed specifically for science class are: binder with 4 dividers, a 70-page spiral notebook (No Larger), regular ruled filler paper, and a pencil. I will provide crayons, glue, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, scissors, etc. that might be needed but you are welcome to have these in your locker or give as a donation to the science room.
9. My desire is that my students are comfortable, happy and successful.
10. I want to keep an open line of communication with parents. Please feel free to contact me at 740-435-1100, e-mail me (angela.hannon@cambridgecityschools.org), or write me a note. I also will use the Remind app to text information.
I HOPE THAT YOUR CHILD'S 6TH GRADE YEAR IS THE BEST EVER!!
