Challenge to Excellence Core Values~LEADERS
We’re excited to share that Challenge to Excellence has adopted LEADERS for our Core Values. This approach helps support every student’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
Leaders is a positive, school-wide framework that teaches and encourages student's academic, social, emotional and behavioral growth. All staff members follow the same approach to ensure consistency across classrooms and grade levels.
We use the acronym LEADERS to guide our behavior expectations. These values are taught, modeled, and reinforced throughout the school day:
L~Leadership (Lead by example and empower others to grow as leaders)
E~Excellence(Commit to high expectations, reflection, and growth)
A~Accountability(Be responsible to one another and to our shared mission)
D~Discovery(Embrace curiosity,creativity, and future-focused thinking)
E~Engagement(Participate actively in our school and broader community)
R~Respect(Honor the dignity, voice, and experience of all)
S~Service(Protect and elevate the community, environment and future)
Students are recognized for showing these behaviors. In 4th grade, we use raffle tickets to reward students who show LEADERS. Tickets go into a class jar and are drawn weekly for special prizes!
If a student needs support to correct behavior, we follow these steps:
Verbal Reminder – A private conversation to remind and re-teach PRIDE expectations.
Take a Break – Student steps away from the situation to reflect.
Reflection Form – If behavior continues, student will complete a reflection sheet.
Parent Email – Student will email home (teacher will do this in younger grades).
Parent Conference – A meeting will be set up if needed.
Office Involvement – Administration will step in to help manage the behavior.
We use a Voice Level Chart to help students understand appropriate voice levels for different situations:
5 – Outside Voice (playground only)
4 – Presenting Voice (everyone can hear you)
3 – Speaking Voice (normal conversation)
2 – Table Talk (small group discussion)
1 – Whisper (just one person can hear you)
0 – Silence (no talking)
Please take a moment to talk with your child about these expectations and the importance of showing PRIDE every day. With your support, we’ll continue to make C2E a positive place where all students can thrive!
