Third Grade Teachers

Lisa

I am so excited to work with you this year! This is my 15th year teaching and my 9th year teaching 3rd grade at Whittier. Prior to this, I’ve taught Kindergarten in Vietnam, ESL, preschool, and English in China. I have worked with kids of all ages, from toddlers to adult learners in a variety of settings from childcare to outdoor backpacking and climbing.

I received my BA in Spanish from the University of Florida. I completed my Masters of Education at Regis University in Denver.

I love working with children to create a supportive, literacy-rich environment in which we all learn collaboratively. I love our units of study and hope our students walk away from 3rd grade with a love of learning and a desire to take action in order to respect and protect the Earth and all creatures living upon it.

When not in the classroom, I love pottery, triathlons, travel, being in the outdoors, sewing, learning about and reenacting history, and hanging out with my birds!

What a pleasure it is to work with you this year!

Ashleigh

Hi, my name is Ashleigh Hitchcock. I am a Colorado native who likes to walk and bike every day. My long term goal is to use my gifts to be of benefit as a classroom teacher. I am participating in the Friends Teacher Preparation Program, which is an alternative teacher licensure program paired with a Learning, Developmental, and Family Sciences Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado Denver. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, pets and practicing the domestic arts. I am a walk and bike commuter. I believe that above all, being kind is the most important thing. And we can accomplish anything with perseverance and hard work.
