CHS Academic Support Class Syllabus

This class is intended to give students support in their academic classes, teach learning strategies, organizational skills, and communication skills that will enable students to advocate for themselves and complete coursework in all of their classes. It provides additional instructional time and subject-specific learning strategies for students who need the extra assistance. Academic support classes will provide supplemental assignments to practice academic skills.

Five elective credits may be earned each semester for regular attendance and successful completion of course.

Classroom Expectations:

• Bring your charged Chromebook, something to write with, paper, and the assignments that you need to complete
• Have an organizational tool to keep track of assignments and assessments
• Have a good attitude
• Respect yourself and others
• Attend daily
• Complete your work
• Phone is put away if you are not using it for academic purposes
• Furniture stays put, unless you have teacher permission
• Food is okay to eat, only if you clean up after yourself

Grading Structure:

1. Practice/Participation/Attendance/Effort: 70%

• Work Completion and skill building
• Students receive a daily grade
  • 0 = Minimal to no Practice/Participation/Attendance/Effort
  • 1 = Attended, participated, put forth the appropriate effort and completed

work

• Students will receive a weekly grade based on daily points. Students may earn 0-4 points weekly.

2. Summative: Assessments: 20%

• Monthly assessments

3. Final Assessment: 10%
