Why Study Japanese?

· Gateway to a non-western way of thinking and viewing the world

· Safe, modern country with many exchange programs and opportunities to work

· Interesting culture (anime, manga, food, fashion, music, martial arts, history, etc.)

· Great language to use in a career (companies like Sony, Panasonic and Toyota, as well as areas such as: food industry, eastern medicine, translation, etc.)

· Japanese pronunciation is similar to Spanish and there are no tones like in other Asian languages such as Mandarin

· Smaller classes than other World Languages offered at Boulder High

· Advanced Placement offered at the 4^th year level

· Japanese looks great on college applications!
