Lab Safety Rules For Science
1. Prepare for the lab
- good preparation helps you stay safe when doing science activities in the lab.
2. Read through the lab carefully and make sure that you understand the directions
- If anything is unclear, ask your teacher before you begin.
3. Be familiar with the safety symbols.
4. Know where the safety equipment is when you walk into the lab.
5. Always wear your goggles.
6. No eating or drinking while in the science lab.
7. Don't directly smell any materials- WAFT
8. No unauthorized experiments.
9. Dispose of waste appropriately- mixing waste can result in a fire or explosion.
10. Notify your teacher if any spills or accidents occur- no matter how minor you think they are.
11. No horseplay in the lab.
12. Never point a test tube toward yourself or anyone else.
13. Wash your hands.
14. Clean your area.
