Forensic study has shown the most common “Lessons Learned” from construction failures are the necessity for improved organization and communication among the project team during construction and the need for inspection during the installation of principal structural elements. To this end, Chapter 17 Special Inspections codifies Quality Assurance an integral part of project delivery.

Four Vermont professionals with significant experience in structural design, special inspections, and code enforcement have joined together to teach this event specific to Vermont’s construction industry.

Specific Topics include:

• • Special Inspections in Vermont and Code Requirements

  • Duties and Responsibilities and Qualifications of Inspectors

  • Special Inspections of various materials including Soils, Concrete, Steel, Masonry, Precast Concrete, Wood, EIFS, and Fireproofing.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be better able to:

• • Identify Special Inspection Requirements for construction projects in Vermont;

  • Understand major code updates in the 2015 Edition related to Chapter 17, Special Inspections;

  • Understand the duties and responsibilities of project team members to implement the Quality Assurance program including Special Inspections;

  • Understand the scope of Special Inspections for the various structural construction materials.
