USDA-FNS Accommodating Children with Disabilities in the School Meal Program

The USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is pleased to announce the release of the 2017 Edition of Accommodating Children with Disabilities in the School Meal Programs. This guide provides guidance on the requirement for school food authorities to ensure equal access to Program benefits for children with disabilities, which includes providing special meals to children with a disability that restricts their diet. The documents are attached for your convenience.

If your school site has a child/ren that are in need of special diet. Please print and complete the medical statement form by and physician or health aide and return to BSSD District Office Food Services.

To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online at: How to File a Complaint, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
