After School Snack Program
The Bering Strait School District has opted to participate in the after school snack program for school year 2024-2025. The program must provide organized, supervised, and structured activities designed with the purpose of caring for children in after-school setting. Which includes an educational or enrichment activity.
Please check with you local school to see if this is an available.
For local school sites that are participating in the program proper documentation must be completed and submitted to food service. Please see: Monthly Reports Due chart for proper documents to be submitted.
The snacks must contain at least two different components of the following four groups: a serving of fat free/low fat milk; a serving of meat or meat alternate; a serving veggies or fruits or full strength veggie or fruit juice; a serving or whole grain or enriched bread or cereal.
***Production records are due on monthly basis and must be properly filled out when an educational or enrichment activity has taken place.
Please note: When operating this program there are two (2) on-site reviews that must completed during the school year. The first is review is due in the first 4-weeks of operation, the second review is completed by the end of school year.
