General Music

General or classroom music is a required class at EMS for all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Music is part of the exploratory rotation at EMS. Sixth grade students come to music every other day for twelve weeks of the school year to work on music skills; seventh and eighth graders take music every other day for half the school year in either seventh or eighth grade.

General music is taught by Mrs. Cianciola in Grade six and Mrs. Cianciola or Mr. Lambert in grades seven and eight. In general music students play instruments (guitar, hand held percussion and boom whackers), compose music using the cloud based Noteflight computer program, critique and revise their work and the work of their peers, study music history, and experience a variety of games and activities to build music reading and music appreciation skills.
