Arrupe Virtual Learning Institute (AVLI)

2019-2020 AVLI Program

The Arrupe Virtual Learning Institute--or AVLI--is a rebranding of the old JVLA--or the Jesuit Virtual Learning Academy. The AVLI is a network of Catholic high school teachers from around the nation who offer online courses for credit. Brophy offers some of these courses for elective or required credit (see Mr. Walsh to discuss what courses can count toward graduation requirements). Students should note that these courses are online only, involve extra tuition ($275 for .5 credit, $375 for a full credit, unless otherwise noted), and do appear on a student's transcript. Students with questions or interest should consult Mr. Walsh or their counselors immediately, as some courses do fill up, and the AVLI has had to turn students away at times. To register for a class, students should contact Mr. Walsh at swalsh@brophyprep.org to begin the process.

For the list of 2019-20 AVLI courses and dates, please see their online course catalog here:

Important to note: a student who registers for an AVLI course has one week when the course begins to drop the course officially with the AVLI and receive a 75% refund during the school year, or a 50% refund during summer school. No refunds take place after the first week of the course. Because of the unique nature of an online course, the withdrawal window is extended for students taking an AVLI course; they have until the quarter-mark of the course to drop without a W on a transcript. After that, a student must drop by the half-way point with a W or finish the course outright.
