Homework
· The purpose of homework is to reinforce skills taught in class, teach time management skills and responsibility.
· You should expect to spend 15 - 20 minutes a night on homework, along with 20 minutes of reading. Homework is not assigned over weekends or holidays.
· Children have been provided with a durable two-pocket folder to be used as a take-home/homework folder. Homework will go home in this folder and should be returned in it as well. This folder should be returned to school each day.
· Homework might include:
ü 20 minutes of reading
ü Math Home links
ü Addition and Subtraction math facts
ü Handwriting review
ü Spelling and Word Study practice
ü Writing assignments
· It is important that children read for pleasure each night for about 20 minutes. This can include reading with a parent or sibling! Students will receive reading logs each month to keep track of their reading.
Please send in a note if your child struggles with an assignment. If an assignment takes longer than 20 minutes, you may stop at that spot and just write a note indicating the time.
Please encourage your child to do his/her best on all work. It is important to have your child double check his/her assignment for any mistakes. All assignments should have your child's first and last name on it. All assignments should be one in pencil.
