Ms. Jewell's Third Grade
Welcome!
***Ms. Jewell’s Third Grade***
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to a new school year and to third-grade at Bridgman Elementary! My name is Barb Jewell and I will be your child’s third-grade teacher. This will be my nineteenth year of teaching and my sixteenth year in third grade. Prior to teaching, I spent seventeen years working in the healthcare field as an x-ray technologist. I received an Associate in Applied Science from Lake Michigan College, a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from Western Michigan University, and returned to Western for my Bachelor of Science in Education, and my Master of Arts in Reading. My Michigan certifications include elementary, science, early childhood, and reading specialist. As you can see, learning new things has been a big part of my life!

I became a teacher because I love working with children, and I enjoy helping them learn new concepts, explore different ideas, and engage in positive relationships with their peers. As a teacher, I want to help all my students work to their full potential by assisting them in developing strategies that benefit their specific learning styles.

Throughout the school year, I will work hard to provide your child with a variety of learning experiences. Our classroom will include many interactive activities. We will strengthen our skills in reading, writing, and spelling; learn new concepts in math, science, and social studies; and develop our test-taking strategies.

I am excited about spending the year with your child, and look forward to partnering with you in helping to establish a life-long love of learning. Thank you in advance for your help as we work together to make your child’s third-grade experience a very special and memorable one. Please feel free to contact me at the school if you have any concerns or questions throughout the year.
