Reading Counts

Reading Counts is a computer program that students use to take quizzes over books they read. Do they understand what they read? This program helps students with their comprehension. In the library I use this as an opportunity to encourage reading. Each time a student passes a quiz they earn points based off the level of the book. I then give them a goal to reach.

As a second grader they receive something for every 20 points they earned. 20 points earns a selfie, that is placed on the wall outside the library, and a prize from the prize box. 40 points is a free book. 60 points is another prize. 80 points earns another free book and they can be invited to the pizza lunch party in May. They may earn more points and the prizes just repeat themselves after ever additional 20 points.

As a third grader thru fifth grader they receive something for every 25 points earned. 25 points earns a selfie, that is placed on the wall outside the library, and a prize from the prize box. 50 points is a free book. 75 points is another prize. 100 points earns another free book and they can be invited to the pizza lunch party in May. They may earn more points and the prizes just repeat themselves after ever additional 25 points.

*Ask your child how many points they have earned through the year.
