ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION

SAT QUIZ #2 - ( WORDS 1-20) ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND

Students should have all 20 words in their notes - our most current list (11-20) is found to the right, for your convenience. Please scroll down to see words 1-10. For the quiz on the 22nd, students will need to use each word in a sentence, demonstrating their knowledge of the word.

REASSESSMENT QUIZ FOR JACK LONDON'S "TO BUILD A FIRE"

Students who wish to reassess the "To Build a Fire" quiz must follow the reassessment protocol & timeline:

1. Original quizzes passed back in class Wednesday, February 13th. Quiz answers will be discussed & students must CORRECT their original quiz to use as a study device.

2. Students must RE-READ the story. If opting to listen to the audio version, it is strongly advised that they follow along with the actual text to maintain focus/attention.

3. Students must view a short film (link below / approx. 11 minutes) version of the story and note differences between the film & the text.

4. Students will fill out a reassessment form w/parent signature indicating that the above steps were followed.

5. Students will attend one of FOUR reassessment opportunities:

  • Tuesday - 2/19 - 7:15 am OR lunch
  • Thursday - 2/21 - 7:15 am OR lunch

REALISM POETRY

On Thursday, February 7th, students were introduced to the "Realism Poetry" assignment. They had part of that class period to begin work on the task and minimal time on Friday the 8th as well as Monday the 11th. The assignment is due on Tuesday, February 12th.

QUIZ OVER JACK LONDON'S "TO BUILD A FIRE"

On Wednesday, January 30th, we started to read London's short story out loud in class. Students were then offered a full class period on Thursday, January 31st to finish reading the story + review for the quiz on February 1st. A reassessment quiz will be offered, however all stakeholders should understand that the reassessment quiz will be different than the original quiz and also more difficult in nature. Students are encouraged to make sure they are prepared for the first quiz on the 1st.

SAT ESSAY INITIAL SURVEY LINK

After students have attempted their first practice SAT essay and experienced a scoring session for this essay (to view actual samples released by College Board), they are to fill out an initial survey regarding their understanding and comfort levels with the SAT essay process. Students will be prompted to fill out this survey on Monday, January 28th.

AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL POEM ASSIGNMENT


Students will be informed of this assignment on Wednesday, January 9th. The poem will be due by the end of the period on Friday, January 11th.
