P r o c l a m a t i o n
Whereas, The Declaration of Independence of the United States of America,
declares that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator
with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the
pursuit of Happiness” ... it does not guarantee it ... one has to choose it; and
Whereas, Forty (40%) percent of one’s happiness is a choice; and
Whereas, Fifty (50%) percent of one’s happiness is determined by one’s genes
and environment; and
Whereas, Happiness is increased by random acts of kindness and therefore,
contagious; and
Whereas, Happiness increases health benefits for positive thinking which
are:
*Increased life span;
* Lower rates of depression;
* Lower levels of distress;
* Greater resistance to the common cold;
* Better psychological and physical well-being;
* Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease;
* Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress; and
To Wit:
Now Therefore, I, Joseph A. Davis, by virtue of the authority vested in me
as Mayor, and on behalf of the Governing Body of the City of Blanchard,
Blanchard, Oklahoma, hereby proclaims Friday, the 8th day of November, 2013, as
“CHOOSE HAPPINESS DAY”
in Blanchard ; and
Be It Further Resolved, the Governing Body of the City of Blanchard,
Blanchard, Oklahoma, recognize the Psychology and Advanced Psychology
Students of Blanchard High School for their efforts in promoting ‘The Happy
Campaign 2013' program in Blanchard by connecting with the residents of
Blanchard, creating chemistry between high school students and the citizens of
this great community in a day that we connect completely, by choosing happiness,
which in turn affects both the mind and body.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the
City of Blanchard, Oklahoma, to be affixed this twenty-second day of October in
the year of Our Lord in Two-Thousand Thirteen.
Let This Proclaimation be entered into the official records of the City of
Blanchard.

Choose Happiness Day in Blanchard, Friday-November 8th:
The Psychology and Advanced Psychology students of Rick Roby at Blanchard High School will be recognizing Friday, November 8th as "Choose Happiness Day". They will visit the Senior Village Nursing Home, Special Education classes at the High School & Elementary, Pre-K and Kindergarten classes and businesses in Blanchard and be spreading happiness with flyers, stickers, suckers, free hugs and more! The community is invited to attend a ceremony at the flag pole on Main Street at 1pm on Friday, November 8th to release 100 yellow balloons.
