LIII Champion Crowned

The WCC LIII has now been completed, and the Saints RFC managed by TorrentialRain have been crowned World Club Cup Champions for the 2nd time beating donkeysaint's Auckland Katipos R.F.C.40 - 28 at the Cloud Nine Stadium in Canterbury

This all Kiwi Final, could have gone either way, and both teams have over 20 encounters with the Katipos just having the edge, and in the 56th minute only 2 points separated the Finalists, but when Calverd went over for a try in the 72nd minute, the Saints were destined to win their 2nd Championship.

A big well done to all the other managers who took out the trophies in the groups.....some very fine, well contested efforts

Next we have the prestigious "Iorwerth Award" which was created in honour of BR manager and WCC Founder Iorwerth, and it is awarded to the team or teams that we believe have played throughout each season's competition with the commitment, passion and spirit, that was originally intended for the WCC, when the competition idea was conceived.

This season we have 2 recipients of the award, and the Trophies go to Mistros manager mistro who has been with us for a number of seasons, with some WCC success, and had a good run in the Plate this season, but did not get a medal, similar to Raionkingu manager Van Coke, who finished 4th in the Bowl, but had some great tactical wins along the way, well done guys, it is managers like you that have been the backbone of this comp for year.

So I am proud to announce this season's Iorwerth Awards go to;

WCC LIII IORWERTH AWARDS

Mistros: manager mistro

Raionkingu: manager Van Coke,

As mentioned a few seasons ago, I decided to introduce the WCC RFS Sportsman Award, in honour of one of the WCC Founders and who is no longer a BR Manager unfortunately.

Forever it seems, I have been the face of the WCC, but there was work and reputation that preceded me and I have been proud to evolve and grow the comp since the early days, but RFS & Iorwerth were the managers who started the journey.

The Trophy contains a Shield and RFS's Basingwerk RFC "Well Warriors" Logo.

This season the Trophy goes to 1. Kieler Rugby Fussball Verein manager, Steffen who is a newer manager, but always competes with great sportsmanship I believe,he and many like him are the reasons the WCC has been the no.1 comp for many seasons.

WCC LIII RFS SPORTSMAN AWARD

1. Kieler Rugby Fussball Verein - Manager: Steffen
