Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater.
Must be involved in one extra-curricular activity or be employed
Must seek out leadership opportunities and demonstrate leadership qualities in school, in your activities, or in the community,
A minimum of 15 total volunteer hours of ANY combination of Tier 1 or Tier 2 hours, including the 5 Faculty Council List hours.
FIVE hours of fifteen that MUST come from the BPS Faculty Council NHS Approved Organizations List.
Applications will be due by the end of February. Students should check Google Classroom for exact dates, because they will change each year due to school calendar. (The Application Form will become available on the Homepage and our Google Classroom.)
*** The hours for the NHS application can begin after the current school year's application deadline. So, for 2023-2024 membership, any community service hours documented after March 11, 2023 will apply. ***
Using your BPS Google accounts, you will apply digitally via the above link. ***You will also be required to upload your Community Service Log and Signature Verification Form to your Google Drive accounts and then hyperlink them within the Induction Candidate Form (there is a how-to video tutorial within the application form). This form is required for all students who wish to join or renew their membership in National Honor Society. YOU MUST SHARE BOTH FORMS WITH THE ADVISOR. If the forms are not shared, you may miss the application deadline.

Reminder to Current Members:
Continuing to Retain Membership in National Honor Society (Once Inducted)
Once students are awarded membership, their membership comes with the obligation to continue to meet and/or exceed minimum requirements and challenge themselves to continue to grow in all four criteria. They were initially chosen based on their outstanding accomplishments in all four criteria and are expected to maintain that exemplary status in the areas of scholarship, leadership, character and service. Since the main focus of National Honor Society is to provide service to the school and community, students are expected to continue and to expand their service work within the community.
Legacy High School National Honor Society members are responsible for the following requirements in order to maintain good standing:
Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5, verified at the end of the semester
Make good decisions in and out of school to demonstrate outstanding character and leadership.
Demonstrate leadership in school, in your activities, and/or in the community,
Continuing to perform and document 15 hours of service to their community from March 1st to the application deadline on the last Friday in February.
To maintain active membership, students are required to submit an online form, again noting their continued involvement in activities as well as continued service to the community. The service log must have at least 15 hours of documented and acceptable service as per the bylaw description. It should again be uploaded digitally and linked to their online submission. The submission for continued membership will be reviewed by the adviser and does not need approval from the Faculty Council. If a student should fail to meet the minimum requirements for membership under which they were initially selected, the student may be considered for dismissal from National Honor Society. See the Discipline and Dismissal section of this document for details regarding this process.
