Biotechnology Unit Project

Objective: To create an original piece of work that demonstrates your understandings of the essential content covered in our unit on biotechnology (including eugenics and epigenetics!)

Project Guidelines:

· All projects must be original in their entirety.

o Copied excerpts must be quoted properly.

o All sources must be cited, even photos!

· Project is worth 100 points

· Project outline is due Feb. 15th

· Final project due Feb. 23rd

· All partnerships and project ideas need my approval by Feb. 10th

You have a lot of freedom and flexibility as to how you accomplish the objective here. You may choose to:

· write a play,

· write a story,

· create a comic,

· create a poetry collection

· write songs & create a CD with cover art

· create a video,

· create a newscast,

· write a research paper,

· create a mural or collection of artwork,

· create test and provide an answer key,

· create puzzles (crosswords, etc.)

· create a video game

· create a scenario and assume the role of genetic counselor or doctor to advise patients on their conditions, options, and choices

· research current applications of biotech and make a prezi presentation to showcase your findings

Your project can be an overview of everything we have covered in this unit or you may choose to delve more deeply into one or two topic areas of interest. But, be sure to check your idea with me ahead of time for approval!

See project rubric for content and presentation expectations…the rubric must be turned in with the final project!
