2019-2020 Classwork

Daily updates regarding course learning objectives, assignments, notes, additional study tools and resources, etc.

MARCH 2020

3/30/2020

  • Please accept the google classroom invitation I sent to your school email address.
  • Moving forward all assignments will be posted in google classroom -- the total time needed to complete your biology work for the entire week should be between 2.5-3.5 hours. This should be manageable.
  • We will NOT use the Clever/Pearson online book -- the work should be much less cumbersome and more meaningful.
  • If you do not have technology access that will allow you to use google classroom, please address your technology needs with our school Admin (281-5400) OR pick up the alternative assignments EACH WEEK in the BSH Main Office between 7:30am - 3:30pm

3/27/2020

  • Read yesterday's post carefully.
  • Remember to complete old/missing work and email me when you finish it so I can update powerschool.
  • Extra credit for anyone who sends me an email today before 11:45pm with "I love biology" as the subject line and answering these three questions: 1. What are we doing in biology moving forward? 2. Have you accepted the email invite I sent you to join our google classroom? 3. How are you doing with this whole physical distancing, no school, shelter-in-place scenario?

3/26/2020

  • Happy Thursday.
  • Reminder that you have until Sunday to finish the work assigned last week for the initial 2-week school closure.
  • Beginning next week we will shift to a google classroom platform and will NOT BE USING THE CUMBERSOME ONLINE TEXTBOOK!!! Whew! I know that was a nightmare for many of you and appreciate your patience.
  • Moving forward: there will continue to be two options for completing work -- one option will require google classroom (but loading shouldn't be an issue -- just basic youtube, google docs, etc.) and the other will not. If you don't have internet you MUST PICK UP YOUR WORK from the main office. Work will be assigned Monday for the whole week and it is set to take about 2.5 - 3 hours Total for the week.
  • Email me (lords@billingsschools.org) if you have questions :) I'd love to hear from you anyway -- I miss you all!

3/25/2020

  • Hi everyone! I sure miss seeing you all in person.
  • Please make sure you are keeping up with the tasks assigned last week. If you haven't started yet, please do so ASAP. If you are struggling with the online work then go get a textbook and assignment from the main office (open during normal school hours) and do that work instead.

3/20/2020

  • Happy first day of spring!
  • Keep up -- you WILL BE QUIZZED over this material. Read your email for updated expectations posted yesterday.

3/19/2020

  • Good morning!
  • Please make sure you are giving your best effort to complete the online assignments. I know it isn't perfect and we are reassessing in case our school closure lasts longer than expected, but you are expected to do the online work OR come collect a textbook from the main office and complete the work that way.
  • Stay healthy :)

3/18/2020

I just sent a follow-up email regarding the digital assignments. Please check your school email for more information.

3/17/2020

Weeeeellll..... Hello and Welcome to the new COVID-19 world!

First and foremost, I hope you all are healthy and safe. Believe me when I say I already miss teaching and miss you all. We will all do the best we can to proceed, to keep up with our learning, and to pick up the pieces when we return.

PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT VERY CAREFULLY -- it outlines everything you need to know for the next couple of weeks. As always, reach out with questions (lords@billingsschools.org) and take care!

Here's the rundown-- but PLEASE READ the document above before starting :)

Assigned work: We have designed a department-wide evolution unit for all biology students at BSH to help us continue our learning during this time. The assignments can be completed in a digital format for students with internet access and computers or using a hard-copy textbook which can be acquired by emailing Mr. Blood (bloodt@billingsschools.org). There may be a bit of review in the assigned work for some students but review is never a bad idea :)
Online Textbook Access -- All biology students have access to the e-book and assigned tasks through their Clever account. -Click the blue Clever icon in your google toolbar when logged onto your school google account.-Select Pearson Easy Bridge icon, choose your teacher and the Miller-Levine biology. -Set-up profile if needed. -Once on the Pearson Realize homepage select the ORANGE section with classes and due dates to see your assigned work.
Hard-copy textbook pick up from School -- Please call or email Mr. Blood to make arrangements for checking out a textbook from the main office and enter through the main doors on Grand. 281-5400 or bloodt@billingsschools.org
