Algebra 1
The big idea of an Algebra I course is for students to begin seeing patterns in numbers and trying to express those patterns in a simpler way. Instead of having to repeat a process over and over, students will learn how to write an equation to represent that process. They can then use that equation to find a variety of pieces of information, most of which are critical to understanding how these ideas can be applied in life. A multi-step approach is used in how algebraic concepts are taught including numerically, algebraically, graphically, and verbally. Topics covered in Algebra I include the following:
brief review of real number operations
in-depth study of linear functions (solving equations and inequalities, solving systems of equations and inequalities, graphing, and applications)
introductory look at exponentials, quadratics, and statistics
