SKIS

The most important piece of equipment in skiing is the skis themselves.  While racing skis are not required, the racer will have better results with a properly sized and tuned racing ski.

HELMETS

MIAA Rules and Regulations Governing Athletics Handbook states:

"77.2 A hard-shelled helmet specifically designed for skiing must be worn for alpine skiing. The MIAA Sports Medicine Committee strongly recommends a face guard for slalom skiing."

Although we are not hosting a sanctioned US Ski and Snowboard event, we strive to align with their rules and regulations as much as possible, as they are a governing body for alpine ski racing. For reference, here’s the relevant excerpt from this year’s USSS Equipment Guidelines:

"Helmets must bear a CE mark and conform to recognized and appropriate standards such as CEH.Din 1077, ASTM F2040, SNELL S98, or RS 98."

FIS Racing helmets are not required, but suggested, a helmet with soft ear flaps are not as desirable.
