Because you are entering into an advanced math course we need to make sure your skills are on-point and you are ready to go next school year. We also recognize that starting middle school is an adjustment, so we have a section dedicated to tips and suggestions for getting ready for next year! The math assignments are available for you to review 5th grade skills needed for our math courses. There are 10 assignments with about 12-15 questions each. Each assignment has an answer key so you can check your work as you go. We encourage you to use the resource links to help you if you are stuck or need a refresher on how to do a certain problem. Please complete these assignments WITH FIDELITY, which means to take your time, show all your work, and ask for help if you need it.
Be sure to complete your assignment before the first day of school August 19, 2025
Here are the supplies that you will need for 6th Advanced Math starting on the first day. These are the supplies that you will be using EVERY DAY!
8.5 x 11 inch Notebooks: You will need 2 of these--One notebook will be for your notes and in class examples, and the other is where all of your scratch work will be organized. We recommend getting notebooks that are college ruled and at least 100 pages. You can have a spiral or bound notebook, but we recommend getting the larger 8.5x11 size to make inserting print outs easier!
1 inch Binder: This will be kept in the classroom so make sure it's one you don't mind keeping at school. It does not need folder pockets, but it could have them if you wish!
Pencils with good erasers
1 package of Graph Paper and Notebook Paper: These will be for community class supplies.
Headphones: They need to be able to connect to a Chromebook, but there is no preference between Bluetooth or wired headphones.
While you may have had multiple classes in elementary school, having 8 unique classes is a big change! To help you feel more prepared and organized for the school year, we have made a video that gives you some tips and suggestions! We encourage you to watch this video with your parents so they can help support you as you prepare to start middle school!
The assignments are linked below as PDFs. Each assignment has an answer key so you can check your work as you go. We encourage you to use the resource links to help you if you are stuck or need a refresher on how to do a certain problem. You do not have to take notes on any of the resources linked.
How to Complete Assignments:
Option 1: Print PDFs and complete problems on printouts. Make sure to show all of your work and include units! You are welcome to attach additional scratch paper if you need. Please STAPLE your assignments together in order when you are done, and make sure your name is on the first assignment page.
Option 2: Complete problems on notebook paper or graph paper. We ask that you title each page with the SAME TITLE as the PDF. You do not have to copy the entire problem down (unless you would like) but please make sure you have each problem's work numbered and answers clearly labeled. Don't forget units! Please STAPLE your assignments together in order when you are done, and make sure your name is on the first assignment page.
