About Becoming at Teacher
The path to becoming a teacher begins with an inner voice that strives to be heard. The voice evolves into a desire/drive that seeks to impart knowledge to others. College classes open the door to the world of teaching and apprenticing (student teaching) under one or more wise and knowledgeable mentoring teachers shapes the kind of teacher you will become. It is not enough to say "I want to be a teacher," take college courses, and graduate with a teacher certificate. In time, the line between what you do (teach) and who you are (identity) will blur and that is a good thing. A good teacher has strong academic credentials and is skilled in the art of persuasion, leadership, and motivation. A good teacher measures success by the number of lives he/she shapes/influences and not by the number of intellectual pursuits, degrees, or honors received. I am glad that you have chosen ACC as your starting point in your teacher journey. I will make every effort to put you on a "good" teacher path.
