About Succeeding in College:
There are four (4) elements that determine success in college: self discipline, organization, commitment, and "ganas" (deep desire). All four elements are dependent on each other and must work in harmony. You must see college as an investment where you are investing your time, energy, effort, and money with the hope of future "dividends" that will include a college degree, a better job, a higher level of respect, and a brighter future. Along the way, you will face obstacles, some of which seem insurmountable. Fear, doubt, and failure will want to creep in and derail all that you have worked so very hard to earn. It is at such low points that you MUST take stock of how far you have come and how far you have to go and dig deep, very deep within yourself and find the fortitude to rise above academic adversity and WIN! I know first hand how difficult it is to be in the dark shadow of fear, failure, and doubt as you strive and struggle to step into the light of success. It can be done, but YOU must invest ALL of yourself into the enterprise. You must surround yourself with wise counselors, good tutors, great teachers, supportive family and formulate a realistic plan to extinguish all those obstacles that stand in the way of your success.
