IMPORTANT NOTE: This performance is optional! As there is a cost involved for tickets to the baseball game, no student is expected to participate and perform. This is an event that many families and students have enjoyed doing over the past several years, but there are no expectations whatsoever on families and students to participate. It's a fun activity open for choir students and their families. Further details and information about the event will be provided in attachments on the event as well as a packet printed for students to take home.
What: Vassar Choir at the Rockies
Who: Vassar Elementary Choir + a few other choirs yet to be announced
When: TBD
Where: Coors Field, Home of the Colorado Rockies
Purpose: To provide choir students who would like the experience of performing the National Anthem at a Major League Baseball game that opportunity
Cost: Tickets to the ballgame, plus parking/transportation (students who will be singing the National Anthem with the choir do need to have tickets purchased for themselves and other family members accompanying them
Call Time for Choir Students: TBD to rehearse the anthem and obtain a t-shirt to wear for the performance
Before the game: Students will meet Mrs. Gonzalez at a designated area to enter the tunnels of the stadium and prepare to perform the anthem on the outfield.
After the anthem: Students will be accompanied back to the main concourse to reconnect with their families. Students will be with their families for the remainder of their time at the game.
Ticket Information: Discounted tickets are available from the Rockies. Instructions for purchasing them are on the pages attached. If your family has access to cheaper or free tickets from an employer or friend, that’s perfectly fine. Tickets must be used to enter the stadium, but where or how those tickets are acquired is not important.
