About Mr. DeLoach

Lee DeLoach is presently in his 31st year as Band Director of the Audubon Jr./Sr. High School Instrumental Music Department.  He started his teaching career in the Winter of 1993 as a long-term substitute band director at Methacton HS in Pennsylvania, then began teaching at Audubon HS in the fall of 1993.  Prior to 1993, Mr. DeLoach spent four years on the Marching Band Staff of Audubon HS Marching Band (1988-1991), and three years on staff of the Clearview Regional HS Marching Band (1992-94).  He is a 1992 graduate of Temple University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and receiving the Music Education Certificate of Merit, presented to one outstanding graduating Music Education Major in the Temple University Music Department.  He is responsible for teaching the Junior High Band, Senior High Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Music Theory, and Rotating Lessons at Audubon.  He was also the Marching Band Director from 1993 - 2017 at Audubon.  Mr. DeLoach was fortunate to be selected as the 2022-23 Educator of the Year for Audubon Jr/Sr High School.

Mr. DeLoach performs professionally on trumpet on occasion, and has performed with the Ken Silver Orchestra and the Wind Symphony of South Jersey, as well as church and wedding solo performances.  He is a piano player and singer, and has served in his church as a choir member, trumpet player, and pianist.

Mr. DeLoach is a graduate of Pennsauken HS (1986), and before attending Temple University he was a student at Rutgers-Camden University as a business major.  He also played three years of Varsity Baseball at Rutgers-Camden (1987-89).  He was named MVP of the 1989 team, and was selected as a 2nd team All-Conference infielder for the New Jersey Athletic Conference for two years.  Mr. DeLoach was also fortunate to be the first player ever drafted to play professional baseball out of Rutgers-Camden, and signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1989 after being drafted in the 13th round as an infielder.  He played one season professionally with the L.A. Dodgers organization, playing Rookie short-season "A" ball in Great Falls, Montana.   He also played baseball from 1987 to 1999 for the Roughriders (Haddonfield) in the men's semi-pro Tri-County League.

Mr. DeLoach comes from a very musical family - his father (Dr. Leon DeLoach) was a music teacher of over 30 years (Cinnaminson, Triton, Merchantville) as well as Choir Director/Music Director at the First Presbyterian Church of Merchantville, First Baptist Church of Merchantville, Grace Episcopal Church of Merchantville, and Calvary Baptist Church of Pennsauken.  His brother (Gerry) is a Band Director at Clearview Regional Junior and Senior High School, as well as a professional saxophone player and teacher, and his brother-in-law (Paul Tomlin) is a retired band director of 29 years (Audubon, Clearview).  His sister(Kim) is also a very active singer, and is a soloist, pianist, choir director, and bell choir director at First Presbyterian church of Merchantville, and his sister-in-law (Doreen) is also a very active singer, singing professionally in the Ken Silver Orchestra in the past.  His wife Sandi, a registered nurse, was also a flute player and performed in the bands at Widener University during her college career.

Mr. DeLoach lives in Mickleton with his lovely wife Sandi, his two beautiful children Elizabeth (20) and Tyler (16), and two dogs Willow and Dee Dee.
