Undergraduate
The School of Music and the University as a whole have seen tremendous growth in the last few years in both quality and quantity. We offer very a competitive scholarship program for both resident and non-resident students, available to qualified applicants. These scholarships are awarded based on need and ability and require an audition. We are very excited about the upcoming year. In the past, the quality and attitude of the players have created an outstanding learning environment for both the students as well as for us. We are optimistic that the incoming class this fall will be no different. We hope that you can become a part of this exciting atmosphere. Please contact us soon should you need further information. If you cannot reach us in our offices, feel free to call Dr. Spring at home at (602) 750-6180 or Dr. Gardner at (859) 327-0070. Please leave a message if we are not available.

Auditions
We want each student to present her/himself in what they feel is their best possible light; therefore, the auditions are kept rather free. We do not have a required list, as we feel this limits what we can find out about a player/person in the audition. If you audition on-campus, the actual audition time is only 15 minutes. One or both of us will spend some time with each student following the audition, but the time in front of the audition committee is just 15 minutes. We suggest two contrasting works—these can be excerpts of pieces, as well as perhaps a couple of short orchestral excerpts. If you send a recording, make it no longer than 15-20 minutes, and again, make certain it represents you at your best. Check it for adequate volume, balance, etc. If you could come in person, it does help, as you get to see the campus as well. It is a very beautiful place set in a desert landscape, and is quite different than you might imagine.
