Analytical Essay

The propaganda seen all around us influences our daily life and decisions. It influences the culture in our world and our thoughts and ideas. Even though our world will always be filled with propaganda, not only in advertising and in entertainment, what would happen if there were smaller amounts? Would people be able to express their individuality and creativity without the pressure of being cool? Would the culture that many use to express them and show who they are be seen more and shown proudly? Propaganda takes away individuality and it makes everyone think they have to be alike or dress a certain way. It doesn’t give people a chance to show who they are or what they believe in. Even though propaganda may be inevitable in our lives, if we do not limit it, our individuality will be lost.

Without limited propaganda, culture will be lost, and culture is a way to express individuality. A lot of different people show of their individuality by expressing their culture. By wearing the clothing of your country and culture you can show your individuality and how you are your own person. Propaganda is shown in clothing advertisements everywhere in Tokyo. It’s showing attractive white women wearing western clothing and western looking make-up. The woman of Japan look up to these people for what they are supposed to look and wear and act like. All the Japanese styles have been completely lost in the western over load of influences. All Japanese woman and men want to act and look like western people. It’s shown in their new fashions and advertisements everywhere with western people and things on them. This form of individuality is important to keep existing so people can show their culture and not feel ashamed and feel like they have to act differently to fit in. when propaganda is telling someone that they must dress a certain way that is different to how they do, even if it’s their culture and style, they will listen to it, and their individuality will be lost. If propaganda is not limited, culture will be lost, and so will individuality in the process.

Propaganda sets all the latest trends, and if it’s not limited, people won’t be able to creatively express themselves. In magazines and on TV, there is always something or someone telling you what is cool, and that you should act like that or buy a certain thing. How can people truly show who they are with this kind of pressure to be “cool”? A lot of individuality can be expressed from the way that one dresses. If there was limited amounts of propaganda, people could have their own styles and truly show who they were. In many teen magazines, there are often sections showing the latest styles and fashion trends that you “need” to buy. If people follow theses, everyone will be dressed the same, and no one will show their true fashion and individuality, for fear of not being cool. Propaganda also shows people that they must buy a certain product to be cool. At the rate it is going now, if people keep on listening to the propaganda telling them they must buy something to fit in, no one will be able to show their individuality because everyone will have the same products. If this propaganda is not limited, people will not be able to creatively express them self, and individuality will be lost.

If propaganda is not limited, there will be no individuality in people’s ideas. Propaganda on magazines, movies and advertisements, tell people how to act and how to think. Great ideas in the world come from individual ideas and people thinking in their own way. The individuality in ideas comes from people not being afraid of saying their opinion and expressing their ideas. With propaganda telling us how to act, think, what to buy and watch, everyone will keep their ideas to themselves for fear of not being perceived as “cool”. People will think that they have to act a certain way and that a certain idea may not be cool because of some propaganda they have seen. Other examples of propaganda limiting peoples individual ideas and opinions, relate to bullying. Someone who is seen as “cool” based on propaganda and what is seen as cool could say that bullying is what you are supposed to do. If people have no voice and no opinion because of fear of not being cool, no one will be able to defend of stick up for someone being bullied. With limited amounts of propaganda, there will be more chance for individuals to have their own ideas and voice their opinions.

If propaganda isn’t limited, people won’t have a chance to express individuality. Propaganda takes away culture, which is a way of proudly showing who you are. It also makes people fear not being “cool” and doesn’t give anyone a chance to wear or buy anything unless it’s seen as cool. Propaganda doesn’t let people have their own ideas, and if it isn’t limited, there won’t be any individual thinking done in society. Society needs to be given their individuality, before it is taken away by propaganda, telling you what to buy, wear, and think or who to vote for. With limited propaganda, people can live and show individuality without the fear of not living up to the expectations of being “cool”. For the reasons above, without limited propaganda, our individuality will be lost.
