This website describes a DIY project - to build a fairly good digital music player based on
limited technical knowledge (just eyes & ears),
out of stock hardware + simple modifications (soldering iron),
an open source software and
our liking of the very best of british hifi equipment from the 70s & 80s (especially how it reproduces music and - for our project - it's technical strategy inside to achieve this)
We started out with one of the first raspberry pi computers - pleased by the whole philosophy around it. But in the end we didn't know what to do with it until the first digital analog converters + dedicated software for audio playback showed up on. We put these things together and added as many designated power supplies as possible - Naim Audio's step by step upgrade strategy - to it.
Our priority is the quality of sound therefore our preferences are subjective.
The whole thing is meant to be a modest "thank you" + contribution to all the information today available online which inspired us. Please acknowledge our references as we couldn't have done anything of that without them.
Although laymen, we would like to bring back an excellent musical experience to the barren soundscape after a generation of mp3 compression (just kidding - that's just a minor problem).
Press:
We came in 11th in HiFiBerry and Bang & Olufsen's CREATE Maker Contest.
