Getting a student into your class

There are several reasons why a student might not be able to get into your class on their own.

  1. The class is full.
  2. The class requires Instructor or Department Consent (as listed in the academic catalog or online class description)
  3. The student has not completed all of the prerequisites (as listed in the academic catalog or online class description)
  4. The class requires one or more co-requisites that the student is not taking.

In each of these situations, you and your department have the option to issue a permission code to the student. If you do not know your department's policy on when a permission code can be given to a student, please contact the department office.

  • If this is writing course, please contact the Writing Department for a permission code.

When a class is full, students can choose to put themselves on an online waitlist. Click here for more information about that process.
