We appreciate you partnering with SafeOregon to support your students. We value your critical role. You know your students best and have the ability to connect them to resources. This letter includes some helpful reminders and updates for the new school year.
Reminders:
SafeOregon is not a replacement for students to speak to a trusted adult or a replacement for calling 9-1-1 in emergency situations, it is merely another tool for your safety toolkit. You may receive limited information or prank tips at times but legitimate tips can (and have) saved lives. It is against the law to misuse SafeOregon so please reach out to the support team if you are having issues with misuse. SafeOregon continues to grow and is now in over 1000 schools across the state. Being a Champion and promoting SafeOregon to your students is very important and we thank you for your hard work in spreading the word to your students and community.
Role of the Point of Contact(POCs):
POCs are responsible to begin action toward tip resolution following the receipt of a tip. The Primary POC is the main point of contact for SafeOregon technicians through the dashboard (or by phone if it is urgent information). The Secondary and/or remaining POC(s) assume the responsibilities of the Primary POC in the event the Primary POC is not available or the Primary has delegated tip resolution responsibilities. Point of Contacts begin action toward tip resolution and update the dashboard within 24 hours of receiving a tip. Please note that POCs will be called regarding urgent and critical tips where there is potential for immediate or probable danger. POCs may be asked if law enforcement should be contacted in certain circumstances or law enforcement will be automatically contacted in critical situations.
POCs have relationships with students and family as well access to information like history and addresses therefore they play an extremely important role in assisting law enforcement.
· Please email us at support@safeoregon.com with any staffing changes for the POCs for your school: please include POC # (ie. 1,2,3), name, email address and cell phone number (this cannot be a school phone number).
