Visual Art Objectives:
Explore and respond critically to the work of various artists, art styles, historical backgrounds, and cultural influences
Recognize and use the principles of design; pattern, balance, proportion, variety, unity, rhythm, and emphasis
Demonstrate the ability to describe works of art using the elements of art
Explore various materials to create original works of art that express specific artistic ideas and feelings
Demonstrate proper use and care of art materials
Art Teaching and Learning Benchmarks:
Recognize how artist's use line to create movement in works of art
Practice drawing cubes in one-point perspective
Identify compliments of primary colors
Create landscape using vanishing point and one-point perspective to create illusion of depth
Recognize the significance of ceramic arts throughout history
Experience creating artwork with chalk pastels
Demonstrate a variety of watercolor techniques: wet on wet, wet on dry, dry on dry etc.
Create three dimensional (3D) sculptures out of wire or mask making
