Finding Nemo Jr.

THE SHOW:

Disney’s Finding Nemo JR. is a musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.  Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure.

(We are open to casting most roles with students of any gender!)

THE PROCESS:

•AUDITIONS were MONDAY 11/27 for selected kids during the school day

(Callbacks after school WEDNESDAY 11/29 for selected students as needed.)

•CAST LIST is posted online HERE

THE COMMITMENT:

There will be one full cast rehearsal in December to hand out scripts, etc.  Regular rehearsals begin in January and run before (leads) and after (everyone) school throughout January, February, and early March.

Leads usually rehearse 8:30 am-9:15 am, ensemble and rest of cast is usually 4-5:30 pm.  Later rehearsals go until 6 or 6:30 pm.  We ask families to donate snacks so our cast is fed.

Performances start March 7.

Cast members will not need to come to every rehearsal, but are required to attend all rehearsals they are scheduled for unless they notify directors in advance.  Repeated unexcused absences may lead to re-casting of a student’s part.

Students whose behavior impedes the progress of the group may be dropped from the cast

FAQ:

Can every child who auditions get in the play?

We had 120 applications to audition, we were able to cast 54.  Unfortunately, we will not have a part for everyone.  Please help your child understand that if they are not cast, this is just a part of theater.  We hope to see them at auditions again next year!

Can my other children come to rehearsals with their sibling who is in the play?

No.  Unfortunately we can only be responsible for cast members; we do not have the personnel to care for other children as well.  Thanks for understanding!
