Claymation: To introduce the concept of claymation, the students watched a presentation and example movies. Then the class split into small groups of 3-4 students. Each group talked about movie ideas and put their final idea into a storyboard. A storyboard shows the movie title, character names, and quick drawings/explanations of the main scenes of the movie. Each group displayed the storyboards on the SmartBoard and pitched their movie concept to the class. All the students voted for a movie that was not their own. The winning group won the privilege of creating their characters out of modeling clay for the movie. We planned as a class what would be needed for the backgrounds and props, and these jobs were divided up between the remaining class members. Each of the original planning groups took turns taking a sequence of photos with slight movements of the figures. We also used the iPads and the GarageBand App to create short clips of music that were strung together to create the background music for the movies. HAPPY VIEWING!
