TIPS FOR ALL:
Broken pieces can be fixed with white bottle glue. Add a line of glue to the broken piece and use masking tape to secure the bond tightly. Dry for 24 hours.
An optional glossy finish can be added with a mixture of Mod Podge (Glossy) mixed with water. You can paint the mixture on the finished clay project or dip it in this mixture. *Washable paint and marker may smear with the painting method.
First Grade: Clay Texture Medallion
Option 1: Use crayon to color the texture details on your clay medallion. Use watercolor (or any water-based paint) to paint over the crayon. This will fill in the remaining white of the owl. The wax from the crayon will resist the paint so your crayon should show through.
Option 2: Use tempera or acrylic paint to paint the medallion. I would recommend just painting your favorite color or to let one color dry before you add another.
Option 3: Use just crayon or marker to add color to the texture details on your medallion.
Option 4: Keep it white.
ADD THE STRING AND BEADS TO WEAR AND SHOW OFF YOUR CREATION!
Second Grade: Clay Matryoshka
Option 1: Use a black permanent (extra fine point) marker to draw the front and back designs on your matryoshka. Fill in your design with marker coloring.
*I included your planning sheet with your two designs. Pick your favorite to copy!*
Option 2: Paint or color it however you'd like.
Option 3: Keep it white.
Third Grade: Clay Texture Owls
Option 1: Use crayon or oil pastel to color the texture details on your clay owl. Use watercolor (or any water-based paint) to paint over the crayon/oil pastel. This will fill in the remaining white of the owl. The wax from the crayon will resist the paint so your crayon should show through.
Option 2: Use crayon or oil pastel to color the texture details on your clay owl. Make sure you color hard so the color is thick. Mix a little bit of black acrylic paint with water to dip your project in. Quickly rinse with more water or wipe with a towel if your colors don't show through.
Option 3: Use just crayon or marker to add color to the texture details on your owl.
Option 4: Keep it white.
ADD A STRING TO HANG AND ADMIRE!
Fourth Grade: Clay Coil Pots
Option 1: Use white or black acrylic paint to paint the outside of your coil pot and the top edge. Paint the top and top and edge of your lid if you have one with white or black. Let this coat dry completely. Paint the inside of your coil pot with your favorite color. Let it dry completely. Use the opposite black or white paint to add a pattern design (shapes, lines, letters, numbers that repeat) to the outside.
Option 2: Paint your coil pot however you'd like with watercolor, tempera, or acrylic paint.
Option 3: Use just crayon or marker to add color to your coil pot.
Option 4: Keep it white.
REMEMBER THAT THESE WERE NOT MEANT FOR FOOD. :)

Option 3: Use just crayon or marker to add color to your coil pot.
Option 4: Keep it white.
