I believe that each student deserves the chance to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a supportive learning environment.
I have observed that students vary widely in their learning patterns and I believe that they are able to learn best when they can move at their own speed and choose from learning activities that suit their personality.
For students, this requires frequent reflection on their learning and progress. Students are able to decide how much practice and homework they need, when they are ready to do labs and other activities, and ultimately when they are ready for tests. Up to this point, teachers have made these decisions for them, and students will now have the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning experience.
This course is comprised of a series of Individual Study Units. Each unit contains the sections outlined below.
Important Note: Grades will be assigned based on your mastery of the learning goals only. Grades will not be affected by issues such as lateness of work, effort, attitude, participation, and attendance. Those factors are still VERY IMPORTANT and will be reported separately.
