***Grammar Focus: Subject and Predicate---Introduction to writing complete sentences
In order for students to progress through the writing process, it is important that they understand parts of speech. Knowing how to identify parts of speech will assist them in writing STRONG sentences. This week we will be focusing on Subjects (nouns) and Predicates (verbs).
The students are really learning how to write STRONG sentences. They are going to be able to identify subject and predicate and associate nouns and verbs with each important part of their sentence. Next week we will learn about types of sentences:
*Telling Sentence--STATEMENTS
*Questions--INTERROGATIVE
*Exclamations--EXCLAMATORY
*Commands--IMPERATIVE
Writing a good summary can be a challenge. Identifying the main idea with supporting details will be the focus of this week's summary writing as I model proper story structure to retell the selection.
