Teaching Philosophy: I believe each learner brings valuable personal observations and knowledge with them to all learning environments. My job as a science educator is to activate that personal connection and prior knowledge, challenge the learner to continue to build their understanding, and advance their ability to apply and synthesize their new science knowledge and skills. I strive to be an accessible teacher with an open door and familial rapport so each learner feels cared for and important to the learning of the whole group. In each chair a learner; in each chair a leader. I believe students learn best while struggling through hands-on, authentic problems and projects that empower them to use their background, culture, local environment, community experts, and cutting edge technology and science to make a difference in the place that they live.
