Learning Target: Students will participate in a small group and then a whole group discussion over the text. Groups will review important plot information, significant quotes, and thoughts, questions and epiphanies had by the group members.
Bell Work: What is/was unique about the setting of the book and how did it enhance or take away from the story? Record at least two quotations for support.
Assignment: Chapters 25-30 Lit Circle and TQE Discussion #5. Character Development Analysis. Identify and analyze unreliable narrator in Streetcars.
Learning Target: Students will note information related to theme and identifying theme in literature. Students will complete a practice in identifying theme in select passages and in the class text.
Bell Work: What specific themes did the author emphasize throughout the novel? What do you think he or she is trying to get across to the reader? Record at least two quotations for support.
Assignment: Theme notes and lesson. Group practice and analysis of theme. Read chapters 31-41
Learning Target: Students will read assigned chapters of the text.
Bell Work: Do the characters seem real and believable? Can you relate to their predicaments? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know? Record at least two quotations for support
Assignment: READING DAY (through chap 41 by tomorrow)
Learning Target: Students will analyze/record types of irony in Disney films, watch a Pixar short and determine how irony is present.
Bell Work: How do characters change or evolve throughout the course of the story? What events trigger such changes? Record at least two quotations for support.
Assignment: Irony Lesson/ Activity
Learning Target: Students will evaluate their understanding of the text by taking a final quiz. Students will read assigned chapters of the text.
