Objective: Students will identify various symbols related to nature throughout the text. Students explain the use of symbolism as it relations to the larger meaning of the text as a whole.  Students will participate in a group discussion of their assigned chapters. 

Bell Work: Why does Heathcliff ask Catherine, "How do you feel?" right after Linton dies in Chapter 30 of Wuthering Heights?

Assignment: Chapter 29-31 Notes: Symbols in Nature and Theme in symbolism/ Read 32-34

Objective: Students will analyze the text as a whole through a literary lens of their choice. Through this analysis students will view the book through a new perspective and possible find new meaning in text.  Students will participate in a group discussion of their assigned chapters. Students will revisit the essential questions and formulate new responses in light of reading the novel. Students will prepare for the seminar discussion by formulating responses to the assigned questions. Students will support their responses with evidence from the text. 

Bell Work: Why does Mr. Lockwood enter the house through the kitchen after spying on Catherine and Hareton in Chapter 32 of Wuthering Heights, and what does it suggest about his character?

Assignment: Chapter 32-34 Notes: Critical Lens Theory Analysis and EQ Reflection/ Prepare for seminar discussion 

Objective: Students will participate in a Socratic Seminar Discussion of Wuthering Heights. Students will share their responses to the analysis prompts. Students will respond to their peers questions and responses. Students will reflect on the quality of their responses and participation in a written reflection. 

Bell Work: How and why does Heathcliff's attitude toward Catherine transform throughout Wuthering Heights?

Assignment: Wuthering Heights Seminar Discussion 

Objective: Students will compose a literary argument essay  over Wuthering Heights. Students will include a strong arguable claim, support their argument with strong textual evidence from the text, and use strong analysis and paragraph development skills.

Objective:  Students will evaluation their knowledge of gothic literature, Wuthering Heights, and the Victorian Age by completing the unit exam.
