Due Today: Book Log #1 Due/ Social and Environmental Factors work due

Learning Target: Students will read their book club books and begin working on their book log. 

Bell Work: Is there anything about this book that is like your life? Record and discuss at least two quotations which help to illustrate the similarity between the book and your life. 

Assignment: Book Log #1 Due/ Social and Environmental Factors work due/  Reading Day and Book Log #2

Learning Target: Students will understand what groups and power imbalances are and how they impact people and characters. Students will identify and explain the groups and power imbalances  that are at play in their chosen novels. 

Bell Work: Do you disagree with what one of the characters has done? Why do you disagree so strongly? Record at least two quotations which support your view and explain how they support your point. 

Assignment: Introduction to groups and power imbalances. Work with your groups to identify and explain the groups and power imbalances that are at play and that affect the characters in your chosen novel. Complete the worksheet assignment with your group. 


Due Today: Book Log #1

Learning Target: Students will work with their group to complete their assignment from the previous day. Students will read their book club books and work on their book log. 

Bell Work: What made the section you just read really important? Really interesting? Record and explain at least two quotations which illustrate your point. 

Assignment: 10 minute meeting with your group/ Reading Day and Book Log #2


Due Today: Keep up with your assigned reading

Learning Target: Students will read their book club books and work on their book log. 

Assignment: Reading Day and Book Log #2 (due 5/1)

Objective: Students will analyze the protagonist of each text in order to determine notable feature and create a visual portrait to illustrate their analysis.

Bell Work: What character do you dislike the most? Why do you dislike the character so much? Include at least two quotations and discuss how they reveal what is so despicable about the character. 

Assignment: Book Log #2 Due/ Intro to Visual Portrait
