INDEPENDENT READING IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO OVERALL ACADEMIC SUCCESS!
Reading is the "practice" of English Language arts. Just like kids run laps in phy-ed or practice scales in band, kids need to practice reading just to read. We allow daily time in class to do this, but the most successful students also read outside of class. Readers can choose books from our school library, my classroom library, or bring books from home. The most important thing is that they are reading SOMETHING. If your child is a reluctant reader, I'd love to help them find books they can enjoy.
