Schoolwide Plan - Title I

2020-2021 School Year

The following plan has been approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the plan meets the requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 1112, which states that a local educational agency (LEA) may receive funds under ESEA/ESSA for any fiscal year only if the LEA has on file with the Department a plan for compliance.

The LEA will monitor students’ progress in meeting the challenging Missouri Learning Standards by providing additional educational assistance to individual students that the local educational agency or school determines needs help in meeting the challenging State academic standards. Section 1112 (b)(1)(C) and (b)(5).

Title I.A Funded Supplemental Instruction will include servicing grades kindergarten through fifth grade in the areas of reading and math. Focus for these services will be on early intervention.

The LEA will implement strategies to facilitate effective transitions for students from middle grades to high school.

The LEA will monitor students’ progress in meeting the challenging Missouri Learning Standards by identifying and implementing instructional and other strategies intended to strengthen academic programs and improve school conditions for student learning.

Instructional and other strategies not previously mentioned include the following:

Instructional strategies and materials used will be monitored and reviewed to determine effectiveness in coordination with data. Staff will be given the opportunity to collaborate as teams and vertical teams to discuss effectiveness of instruction and strategies. Personnel will be given opportunities to learn new strategies during professional development within and outside of our school.

The LEA will identify and address any disparities that result in low-income students and minority students being taught at higher rates than other students by ineffective, inexperienced, or out-of-field teachers.

The LEA will provide services to support the enrollment, attendance, and success of homeless children and youths, including providing services comparable to those provided to children in the Title funded schools. Services that will be provided include:

The LEA will ensure that all homeless children and youth have access to all programming and support services that every student has access to. The LEA will also ensure that any transportation is provided even if the student is out of district by coordinating with the other district to share costs of transportation. Students who meet the criteria for homelessness will be supported by ensuring they receive access to free breakfast and lunch and any other needs are met throught the use of funds set aside.

The LEA will support efforts to reduce the overuse of discipline practices that remove students from the classroom which may include identifying and supporting students with high rates of discipline, disaggregated by each of the subgroup of students defined by the National Assessment of Educational Progress Authorization Act. Staff will be educated regarding appropriate discipline and non-discriminatory practices. All discipline will be monitored to ensure overuse has not occurred as well as providing students at risk of discipline issues with resources to help them be successful.
