Bill Frost has kindly volunteered to be the Race referee for the two days. In order to run the event, he still 3 or 4 Marshals to assist.
Payment of $30 per day is available to offset petrol costs and other expenses.

A Portaloo has been booked. We are looking for a volunteer to help with towing duties. If someone is staying in Gunning on Saturday evening and would be able to tow it back to their accommodation overnight, that would save having to tow it back to Canberra.

The cost will be $30 for the race and you must be a current member of the club within the AVCC. Please note that we do not have day licences available.
Riders will need to bring their helmet to the registration desk for inspection. Please note that it is an AVCC requirement that all riders must wear a helmet which meets Australian Standards.
Riders must have started the previous stage to compete the next stage. (i.e. if you don’t ride Saturday then you cannot start on Sunday)

All grades will complete the same 4km course – this is the traditional course starting from the top of the hill and heading northeast along the Old Hume Hwy towards Breadalbane.
Prologue will start at 11:00am and riders will be sent off at 30 second intervals.
Note if you miss your allocated time you will be sent off at the discretion of the Race Referee.
The following limitation apply to the Prologue
• No Disc Wheels or wheel covers
• No Time Trial specific helmets
• No Time Trial bars either specific or clip on
Tri Spoke or other deep dish wheels are allowed as long as the rim does not exceed 10cm.
Stage 1 will start at 1:30pm and riders will be sent off by grade.
Stage 1 is 50km for all grades.
Bonus time will be allocated on both primes for the first three positions (1st – 3 seconds, 2nd – 2 seconds and 3rd 1 second) and for the first five positions (1st – 5 seconds, 2nd – 4 seconds, 3rd - 3 seconds, 4th – 2 seconds and 5th – 1 second) at the finish.
The course length will depend on grade:
• A, B, C, D will complete 100km (Note: A Water Bottle will be provided for riders on the Second Lap)
• E, F, G, Tandem will complete 50km

The sun was shining on course set up, but it was not long before the rain thunder and lightning arrived causing a delay to the first race.
In the A/B grade combo Mark Vroomans easily took the sprint from Andrew Murrell followed by Peter Young. The C/D combo ended with a close sprint between Chris Kon (first) and John Paul De Sousa who used every millimetre of the left lane to phase the finish judges. Third was new to criterium racing Cameron Pitt proving he is C grade material. After a puncture in warm up Paul Robey had a late start in G grade to finish first. The E grade race was crushed by the strong Des Brown riding away from Rosemary Robinson having dropped Sjepan Hirsler mid race.
Thanks to Ian Morton for the Anzac commemoration, Gai Webster for standing in as first aider, Denis Puniard and James Meredith for marshalling duties in conditions very similar to a normal warm English summer day.

Despite waking up to overcast skies and a wet ground, the race was held on dry roads, with mild conditions and a warm (for Canberra autumn) day.
A,B,C and D grades started off in the direction of Geal's Creek, and completed two laps of the course, while E, F, G stared off in the direction of Flints Crossing and completed 1.5 laps.
From the view point of the Start/Finish line there is not much to report.
The grades came in from one direction and left in the other direction. It was a bit like watching a tennis match. With the exception of E and G grade, all of the grades remained largely intact. E, F and G grades crossed the finish line with large gaps between most of the riders where as A, B, C and D finished in a fast bunch sprint. E grade was the first grade to cross, followed by A.
Congratulations to Peter Marshall, Rohan Verco and Paul Scherl for the first three place getters (first to third) in A grade; Marc Vroomans, David Dickson, Reinhard Mauch in B grade; Marcus Judge, John paul De Sousa and Michael Reppion in C grade; and Stuart Roesler, Tony Beasley and John Ignatius in D grade. All of who definitely showed their sprinting skills. Also congratulations to David Turner, Phil Martin and Vanessa Goodspeed in E grade, Ibi Losoncz, Bob Kent and Barbara Bayliss in F grade; and Pauline Thorn, Heather Sommariva and Bruce Jones in G grade.
Given the way they managed to pull away from the other riders in their grades, I suspect a few will be trying to hide from the handicapper.
I would very much like to thank the traffic controllers Clinton Porteous, Tony Weir and Bill Frost. With the new rules and regulations they now have to do a lot of extra work setting up and taking down all of the signs. It is far from a trivial task. Also thanks to Stuart Stabler, Terry Moore, Henry Beaverstock and John Thorn for helping out at the Start/Finish line. And thanks to Graham Hendrie for dragging all of the equipment to and from the race as well as deciphering the traffic management plan; and to James Meredith for setting up and rider registration. As the director I relied a lot on the help of everyone I mentioned above, and it is much appreciated.
One point to note, Clinton suggested that I warn the riders about potential hazards at the turn points. Namely the traffic controller can stop cars coming towards the riders, but don't have much control over cars behind the riders. As it turned out, that exact scenario happened at Tony's turn point. A bunch of riders came to the turn, the front rider indicated that he was about to turn, which the car driver behind them took to mean that he was being given the okay to overtake the bunch. Fortunately the driver hit the brakes in time. So be careful of any cars behind the bunch when making a turn.
